ACTION COST-ES0601: Advances in homogenisation methods of
climate series: an integrated approach
An
initiative
to
produce
standard
methods
designed
to
facilitate
comparisons
of
inhomogeneities
in
long
instrumental
climate
records.
Conclusions:
Homogenisation
improves
climate
data
and
does
not
cause
artificial
trends;
modern
algorithms,
which
are
designed
to
also
work
with
an
inhomogeneous
reference,
are
clearly
better
than
traditional
ones; two new software packages are available.
Arctic Rediscovery Project
The
handwritten
journals
and
logbooks
of
scientists
and
sailors
who
for
centuries
have
left
records
of
the
weather
and
environmental
conditions
they
encountered
on
their
travels
provide unique information about the history of the Arctic climate.
Australian Bureau of Meteorology
National Climate Centre
The
National
Climate
Centre
is
the
service
division
of
the
Australian
Bureau
of
Meteorology
responsible
for
the
provision
of
climate
data
services,
climate
monitoring
services
and
archiving the Australian climate record.
Baltic Sea Experiment (BALTEX)
BALTEX
was
initially
focused
on
the
hydrological
cycle
and
the
exchange
of
energy
between
the
atmosphere
and
the
surface
of
the
Earth.
It
also
researches
regional
climate
change,
water
management
and
biogeochemical
cycles
and
transport
processes
in
the
regional Earth system.
British Antarctic Survey
One
of
the
world's
leading
environmental

centres
and
is
responsible
for
the
UK's
national scientific activities in Antarctica.
Climate Database Modernization Program
A
program
that
imaged
and
keyed
paper
and
microfilm
records
and
made
them
available
on
the
web
to
members.
The
program
produced
almost
56
million
digital
images
from
all
types
of
physical
media
and
enabled
data
keying
projects
to
integrate
new
data
into
digital
datasets.

aims
to
produce
